Digital Freq – Cerberus

Having laced 2012 with a host of well-endowed Electro cuts, Mexican fuzz evangelist Digital Freq steps promptly back up to the mark for the aptly ferocious ‘Ceberus’ for Bug-Eyed Records.

Marking his second visit to the label in one month, Miguel Zavala deals in a distinctly different wave of heavy-set floor fuel. Ditching the more classically attributed guise of sharp leads and vocoded riffs, the dark and gritty undertone to ‘Ceberus’ makes for the rising producers most daring outing to date.

Once you get past the stunning change in soundscope, Zavala’s unremitting energy and copiously fierce chord play establishes yet another solid retreat from Electro House’s more oversubscribed avenues to a realm pure in industrious spirit, but coarse in aural property.

Digital Freq – Prometheus

Mexico may not be renowned for its gleaming contributions to Electronic Dance Music, but the man behind ‘Disco Falls’ and some of the industy’s more pure-fed Electro romps Digital Freq has been somewhat diligent in his quest to champion against this misconception.

Having established himself a strong cohort of stateside aficionados and extended the reign of his meaty yet coherently discography of bangers including 2011′s ‘Street fighter’ and ‘Thriller’, his inaugural release for 2012 calls upon the familiar realms of his warped Daft Punk induced stylings to shine the light for Electro House without its more recent mainstream accolades. Where Greek mythology told that Prometheus was the champion to mankind, Digital Freq has his sights set on similar industrious attributes from the outset.

Amid his robotically refined canvas of mechanically tuned drums and distinct chord play, the aptly titled Prometheus transitions from colourful and ascending melodic play to an impressively brutal low-end romp of chugging chords. By far one of his heavier-set offerings to date, there is an air of familiarity that successfully diverges from the stereotypical assets painted upon his genre over the past several years.

Without so much as an impromptu Dub Step wobble or cheesy R&B vocal asset in sight, Digital Freq has played his cards very close to home for his triumphant return to BugEyed Records for 2012 and with enigmatic force, the year promises to be another vital one for this longstanding Mexican contender.
