The day of the set-piece genre in Dance music are well and truly over. Once Trance orientated tune monger turned universal trend setter Tiesto knows it well, as does his urban orientated master of the Electro House crossover, Wolfgang Gartner. So when the question comes to who owns the night amid a very European onslaught of global clubbing, an injection of gritty American pride proves paramount to this eccentric vocal anthem for Musical Freedom.
Where both respective artists can be found dealing in universally acclaimed studio endeavours and surprisingly vitalic remix duties, their collaborative reasoning seems a long time coming given the general climate within Electronic Dance Music. Pitting Gartner’s gritty ressonance against the overtly open-minded creative guise of his heavyset Dutch peer, the vocal stylings of Luciana ornament this contemporary amalgamation of unpretentious club fuel.
While Tiesto’s melodic stylings are distinctly dominant throughout, there are vital hints of Gartner’s imperfectly blended Electro persuasion that allow ‘We Own The Night’ to surpass all expectations and forge itself as something of a landmark for both respective artists. Where 2012 promises to be a year of uninspiring attempts to make mountains out of the same old mole hills, this collaborative effort concludes that the masters of Electronic music are still hard at work to ensure quality reigns supreme throughout the year.
‘We Own The Night’ is out now on Musical Freedom via Beatport & iTunes.
