Sandro Silva & Oliver Twitz – Gladiator
Our Dutch peers have certainly taught us a thing or two about the potential of the European House movement. Now boasting platinum landmarks and appraisal from across the board, Sandro Silva and fellow countryman Oliver Twitz unite for a stern movement towards Laidback Luke’s Mixmash imprint with ‘Gladiator’.
While Silva may have inspired a new age of heavyset House courtesy of Dutch chart-topper and platinum disc ‘EPIC’ alongside Quintino, Twitz’s firm footing alongside the likes of Diplo and remix duties for Madonna and Laidback Luke have not limited him to turn his hand to this rather particular label with a collaborative effort which beckons a suitable slice of studio heroism in the name of all things Deutsch.
Their unified efforts, however, reign testament to the prime Dutch sound to which their nation has honoured with epic force. Through the pitch-pervading lead play of ‘Gladiator’, Silva and Twitz play on an old theme with some superior new ornaments, bridging the more predictable pathway that their genre has mustered with a tectonic yet overtly intricate outing that sets apart the boys from the men with indisputable peak time precision.
Say what you will about the nations irreplaceable hallmarks – in the hands of two of the industry’s more accomplished underdogs, its warm familiarity can be celebrated rather than scorned courtesy of such positive extensions as their collaborative instalment under the gaze of Mixmash Records.
‘Gladiator’ is out now on Mixmash Records via Beatport.
