The general consensus is that new age Progressive House has few tricks up its sleeves outside of the industry’s elite club mongers. Proud Parisian bandits of the new school European wave Jidax, however, have other ideas. Off the back of their explosive single ‘Rainfall’, the duo prepare to unleash their latest tectonic summer contender ‘Resistencia’ for Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak imprint.
The formula may be one of the most familiar within the digital market, but the avid French duo assert that familiarity need not relapse to tedium. Having already ascended to the ranks of Pacha Recordings and Robbie Rivera’s Juicy Music imprint, ‘Resistencia’ looks to build on the realms of festival friendly bangers that had remained unheard of until the genres explosive global resurgence.
Overnight the explosion may have been, but Jidax certainly prove themselves fast learners. While ‘Resistencia’ may provide the atypical play-out of bawdy beats and eccentric bursts of energy, the French duo reign supreme on the grounds of their tremendous knack for hooking killer leads into the tracks apex. Jumping from subtle yet awkwardly poised progressions to the tracks ultimately euphoric synth riffs, ‘Resistencia’ finds itself encapsulating the momentous energy surrounding EDM without bowing to its oversubscribed halmarks or mainstream injections of monotone.
Amid the crowds of sensational European contenders, Resistencia certainly packs a punch of all-around adrenaline that few artists as young as the Jidax boys can boast of. With further remix duties for ringleader Steve Aoki ahead of them and further spots at some of Europe’s most distinguished nightspots, keeping your eyes peeled for these young up and comers would be much advised.
‘Resistencia’ is out soon on Dim Mak Records.
