Transitioning from the gloom and drizzle that is everyday British life to the White Isle of Ibiza, Collin Barratt has had little excuse not to excel under his vivacious Hauswerks moniker. But don’t let the German-esque name fool you into thinking this another European export cut from the predictable cloths now associated with EDM. Under the watchful eyes of Toolroom Record’s synonymously underground-advocating compilation series, there is no room to worry about soulless sound from the UK’s hottest all-rounder. 

Those already accustomed to Collin’s studio dialect will fondly remember 2010′s Tribe and Tested, a bold testament to his seamless connection with Manuel De La Mere’s 303Lovers imprint. But pitted against Mark Knight’s formidable entourage of new-age House talents, Hauswerk’s diligent programming and untouchable knack for exotic yet solidified bangers makes this one of the more outstanding notches in the compilation’s growing legacy.

Leading with consitently deeper cuts alongside Paul Cooper, latter solo cut ‘I Wanna Take You Somewhere’ shines a light for his own studio dialect with disorientated grooves and haunting top line action from the outset. Calling on the handywork of further blue-eyed British Techno assets Spektre and German House eccentric Matthias Tanzmann’s upbeat imosition upon Pete Tong’s exotically charged anthem ‘Wardance’, disc one makes a steady build of outstanding productions.

However, disc two remains the real money maker amid Hauswerk’s inauguration toe series.  Calling upon the likes of Rickie Deane for ‘All In’ and rising Beatport favourite Matt Smallwood’s ‘What’s Your Story’, tight Tech grooves and resilient ambient spots are absolute rocket fuel amid the ascending explosion of Barratt at the apex of his ability. Add a sharp collaborative effort alongside Tapesh and the aptly razorlined offering ‘A New Dawn’ and it is evident that Barratt is rightfully out to boast of a wonderful pocket of European talents that leads with bonafide talent over forged mainstream credibility.

Providing a sharp and severely promising insight into the more aspirational avenues of Electronic music that seeps with a sense of pride to which the UK enstills upon all of its heartfelt aficionados, Hauswerk’s sets the standard considerably high with an impressive collection of cuts that enstill his spot on the throne as a born leader to Britain’s often overlooked House scene.
